Healing in Partnership with Horses

Our sessions with the horses can take place in the open space of the pasture, or from the comfort of a chair outside of the fence, where we engage in conversation while observing and interacting with the horses. As we talk, we pay attention to how the horses respond—because their reactions often mirror what’s happening within us. Horses naturally attune to human emotions, offering honest, nonjudgmental feedback about our energy, boundaries, and unspoken feelings. These gentle and intuitive animals offer a unique opportunity for self-discovery, emotional awareness, and personal growth.

By noticing their responses, we gain valuable insights into relationship dynamics, nervous system regulation, and emotional patterns. The horses teach us about presence, trust, and connection—helping us develop deeper awareness of ourselves and our interactions with others.

No prior experience with horses is needed. You don’t need to ride, touch, or lead them—just being in their presence is enough to experience their profound lessons.

If you’re looking for a therapeutic approach that is grounded, experiential, and deeply connected to nature, I invite you to step into the field and experience the wisdom of the herd.

All clients and event participants will be required to acknowledge the various outlined risks and potential risks of animal-assisted therapy, including equine-assisted activities, prior to beginning sessions.

Because of their large size and quiet presence, horses can pull us into the present moment like nothing else.

This makes them excellent partners for experiential work like mindfulness, embodiment exercises, and a type of group work called
family constellations.

Healing the past is possible in the present.

What are Family Constellations?

Family constellations (also called systemic constellations) take place in one-off gatherings where a group of people are guided by a facilitator to explore patterns that may exist in one's life. Participants can be as active in the group as they choose, with some participants simply playing the role of observer.

What unfolds during a family constellation can be briefly described as group participants may be asked to stand in as a "representative" of an element or person in someone's life. The group members often experience increased empathy, understanding, and insight after experiencing these groups. And that regardless of their role in any constellation, they appreciate the impact of coming together with compassion for those we love, for ourselves, and for each other. These family constellation groups can feel like incredible portals into a deeper realization of our internal and relational struggles, and for new growth!

No experience or special skills are needed as a participant.

Family constellations can be powerful tools for tapping into your own transformative experiences around previously stuck places or long-held patterns. These experiential groups can help with:

  1. Relationship issues: Participants are often better able to identify patterns in their relationships and to see more clearly how their past lives on in their current relationships.

  2. Trauma and abuse: Participants report the constellation groups provide a "safe container" for the most painful parts of our past to be acknowledged without judgment. Constellations offer families ways to heal and move forward, even if only one person has attended.

  3. Emotional issues: Participants often notice their increased ability to identify and address emotional issues such as grief and anger.

  4. Career and life purpose: Participants sometimes observe insights about their family-of-origin or their other close relationships and how they influence other important areas of their life.

Overall, family constellations group work can be a powerful tool for self-discovery and personal growth. By exploring the dynamics and relationships within our family system, we can gain a deeper understanding of ourselves and our place in the world, and find ways to move forward with greater clarity, insight, and resilience.
